Groups for Kids and Youth
Children's Church
Children's Church is provided for children ages 4 through 2nd grade to provide children with their own age appropriate worship experience. During children's church we sing songs, share our joys and concerns for the week, tell bible stories and make crafts. It provides supervised activities for preschool youngsters during the sermon and final moments of worship at the 10:45 am service.
Crusaders for Christ
Crusaders welcomes children ages 4 through 6th grade to learn and grow in Christ. We meet on Sundays during the school year from 4 to 6 p.m. The children participate in Children's Choir, bible study, crafts, mission work and other special activities throughout the year. Mission work includes work in the prayer garden for the church, make crafts to take to nursing homes and performing songs at nursing homes, raising money for different organizations such as the Methodist Mission Home.
Children's Music Ministry
At WUMC, we teach children the joy and love of making music and using music in praise and worship of our Lord, Jesus Christ. All music used in the class is scripturally based. Children ages 4 years through 6th grade are encouraged to come and bring a friend. Those who participate in the program do not have to be members of our church. The children sing once a month, beginning in September, usually on the 3rd Sunday of each month. We will present some type of Christmas musical. The choir also works with our large Orff-Schulwerk instrumentarium each week and performs pieces in church. Christina holds a Bachelor of Music Degree - Vocal Performance, and a Master of Education Degree. Beth holds a Bachelor of Education degree with emphasis in Elementary Music, and a Master Teacher Level Certification in Orff-Schulwerk.
Nursery
Our caring nursery is available for children under the age of 4 during Sunday School and the 8:30 am and 10:45 am services; so that you can worship without worrying about your young ones while you grow with God.
United Methodist Youth Fellowship
Our youth fellowship meets each Sunday afternoon at 5 pm and Wednesday evening at 7 pm for food, fellowship, worship and learning.
UM Army
UM Army is a summer program offered to Senior High youth, giving them a chance to reach out to other communities, doing carpentry and repair work for needy elderly people. Whitehouse UMC has also been a "base camp" for several UM Army groups working in our community during the summer.
